The 2010 Endeavour Awards are now open for applications. Through the Endeavour Awards, the Australian Government provides opportunities for high achieving international students, researchers and professionals to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia in a broad range of disciplines. Since the introduction of the Australian Government scholarships to Japan in 2007, sixteen Japanese scholars have received an award. "I am proud to see that the Endeavour Awards have assisted in fast tracking the careers of young high achievers from Japan, including 2008 Endeavour Postgraduate Award winner Mr Atsushi Kondo. Mr Kondo is taking up an internship at the United Nations after the completion of his studies at the University of Sydney," said Australian Ambassador to Japan, Mr Murray McLean. The 2009 Japanese Endeavour Executive Award recipient, Mr Masayuki Takagi of the Prefectural University of Hiroshima, will use his award to undertake professional development at the Australasian Occupational Science Centre at the University of Wollongong. Endeavour Awards categories include Postgraduate Awards; Research Fellowship; Vocational Education and Training (VET) Awards; and Executive Awards. Awards range from one month to three years and are open to all fields of study. Home and host organisations also benefit from the collaboration, establishing or enhancing existing regional linkages, and providing opportunities for longer term cooperation. Upon completion of their Award, Endeavour Award Holders can join the Endeavour Awards Alumni Network and access a global community of high achieving individuals and participate in Endeavour Alumni activities, events and contacts which will benefit them for future years.
